Helping to serve your community, Chris Evans MP Help Shape Britains Progressive Future

2nd November 2016 - Islwyn MP celebrates contribution of health and social care workers

‘Government must intervene early and reduce the female prison population’ says Islwyn MP The MP for Islwyn, Chris Evans, has celebrated the significant contribution health and social care workers make every day after taking part in The Health Foundation’s ‘A Mile in My Shoes’ campaign.

The ‘A Mile in My Shoes’ campaign, which is run by The Health Foundation in collaboration with the Empathy Museum, invited MPs from across the country to literally step into the shoes of health and social care workers and listen to an audio recording of their experiences.

The Islwyn MP had the chance to listen to a collection of over 30 audio recordings showcasing a wide range of roles from pharmacist, GP, paramedic, hospital porter, HR manager and finance director.

Mr Evans said: ‘I was already aware of the huge contribution made by health and social care workers, but having been immersed in this experience I certainly learned a lot.

‘I respect and am inspired by the huge range of work undertaken by those working in health and social care in Islwyn and across the country. This experience is certainly useful and I would encourage anyone interested in taking part to visit www.amileinmyshoes.org.uk.’
