Helping to serve your community, Chris Evans MP Help Shape Britains Progressive Future

8th September 2016 - Islwyn MP says local charities should apply for funding boost

Islwyn MP says local charities should apply for funding boostThe MP for Islwyn, Chris Evans, has said that local charities should consider making an application to the Morrison’s Foundation for grant funding after the foundation donated £2.5 million to charity last year.

Run by the well-known WM Morrison’s Supermarkets chain, the Morrison’s Foundation donated £2.5 million in grant funding to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales in its first year. The funding is largely from proceeds of the single use carrier bag charge and supermarket revenues.

Interested charities can apply for grant funding which is designed to help them deliver projects that can improve people’s lives. In Wales last year, the foundation funded rescue boat operator training for the Civil Aid Voluntary Rescue Association in Wales, alongside the purchase of a vehicle for Dial-A-Ride for people who cannot use public transport, among other projects.

Mr Evans said: ‘I know there are many local charities in my constituency and the local area that have ambitious projects but not enough resources to make them into a reality.

‘Morrison’s Foundation funding can help to bring those projects to life and make a real difference in people’s lives, as it has already in Wales and across the country.

‘Any charity in my constituency that thinks they might benefit from grant funding to get in touch with the Morrison’s Foundation should consider making an application.’
