Helping to serve your community, Chris Evans MP Help Shape Britains Progressive Future

29th Septmeber 2016 - ‘Nominate environmental champions for an award’ says Islwyn MP

‘Nominate environmental champions for an award’ says Islwyn MPIslwyn MP Chris Evans has thrown his support behind the Tidy Wales Awards 2016 and has written to local organisations encouraging them to single out environmental champions for recognition.

The Tidy Wales Awards, which this year are sponsored by Helping Hand Environmental and run by Keeping Wales Tidy, aim to recognise volunteer groups working tirelessly to restore their local environment and improve life in their communities.

Multiple categories of award are up for grabs, including the Community Transformation Award, Rivers and Coast Award, Sustainable Futures Award, Cleaner Communities Award, Biodiversity Award, Eco-Schools Award and Green Key (Businesses) Award.

Entries must be submitted online to twa@keepwalestidy.org by 5pm on 24th October this year and hard copies must arrive at their Cardiff offices by 5pm on 21st October. Three finalists will be shortlisted in each category and will be invited to an awards ceremony where winners will receive £250. Short listed entries will receive £50 of vouchers.

Mr Evans said: ‘It is so important that we recognise the tireless efforts of volunteers who take the time to improve their local environment. They do it not for their own benefit, but for the benefit of their communities.

‘The Tidy Wales Awards are a fantastic way to recognise those groups who are true environmental champions in their communities. I would encourage anyone who knows of any volunteer groups who might be deserving of an award to make a nomination.’
